Other ways to engage
Participate in Ecology comment periods for upland site cleanup
Ecology hosts formal public comment periods at key checkpoints during upland site cleanups. You are invited to review and comment on technical documents such as legal agreements with the parties responsible for cleanup, reports of findings from investigations to identify contamination, and cleanup action plans. For more information about upcoming comment periods, please visit our website or subscribe to our newsletter for regular updates.
Participate in State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) comment periods
The State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) process identifies and analyzes environmental impacts associated with governmental decisions. These decisions may be related to issuing permits for private projects, constructing public facilities, or adopting regulations, policies, and plans. The SEPA review process helps agency decision-makers, applicants, and the public understand how the entire proposal will affect the environment. SEPA can be used to modify or deny a proposal to avoid, reduce, or compensate for probable impacts. When a proposal is under environmental review, the public, community and business groups, local and tribal governments, state agencies, and other entities with expertise can review and comment on SEPA documents. Please visit our website to learn more about the review process.
Report environmental concerns through the Environmental Reporting Tool System (ERTS)
Ecology’s reporting tools allows you to report spills or other environmental problems. The sooner we know about an incident, the quicker we can act to reduce harm to our environment and protect sensitive natural resources.
